The firm

About Wago Pop

An accounting and CFO practice serving businesses and nonprofits across the South Bay and West Los Angeles.

Why the firm exists

Most accounting websites in Los Angeles are built to catch someone searching for help with a tax return in March. That is a real business, but it is not this one.

Wago Pop was set up for organisations with an obligation to discharge: a board preparing for an audit, a lender asking for statements, a federal contract that requires the books to be structured a particular way, an agency that has started asking questions. Those are year-round problems, and they need somebody who does this work often enough to be quick at it.

How we work

  • One person who knows your file. You deal with whoever is doing the work.
  • Fixed scope, fixed fee. Agreed before anything starts. No invoice for a phone call.
  • Work stays in Los Angeles. Records are not sent offshore, and if that changed we would need your written consent first.
  • We tell you when you do not need something. Frequently the requirement is smaller than you were told.
  • Plain language. Standards vocabulary where it is genuinely required, and plain English everywhere else.

What we do, and what we do not

Wago Pop provides accounting, CFO, payroll, sales tax and audit preparation services. We do not perform audits, reviews or compilations, and we do not issue audit reports or opinions.

Where a board, lender, funder or statute requires an audit, we get the books ready for it: closed, reconciled and documented, with the schedules and the PBC list built. We then help you engage an independent auditor and support you through the engagement.

Where we work

We operate as a service-area practice across the South Bay and the Westside. El Segundo, Torrance, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Gardena, Carson, Hawthorne, Lawndale, San Pedro, Inglewood, Mar Vista, Culver City, Santa Monica, Venice, Marina del Rey and Playa Vista. Our office is at 1500 Rosecrans Avenue in Manhattan Beach.

Audit preparation and CFO work is largely performed remotely, with meetings at the office or on site where the engagement calls for it. Being slightly outside that ring is rarely an obstacle: ask.

Common questions

Not answered here? Ask us directly: we would rather explain it than have you guess.

Do you perform audits?

No. We prepare you for an audit and support you through it, but the audit itself is performed by an independent auditor you engage. We close and reconcile the books, build the schedules and the PBC list, answer the auditor's questions alongside your team, and can help you find and engage an auditor. We do not perform reviews or compilations either, and we issue no audit reports or opinions.

How big is the firm?

Small and deliberately so. The trade-off is honest, you get direct access to a senior person rather than being handed to a junior, and in exchange we take on fewer engagements at once. If your organisation needs the bench depth of a large regional firm, we would rather say so early than find out together in October.

Are you taking on new clients?

Yes. Capacity is the real constraint in this line of work, particularly between July and October when nonprofit and retirement plan audit preparation overlaps. If you know a fiscal year end is coming, an early conversation is worth much more than a late one.

Do you use offshore staff?

No. Work is performed in Los Angeles. This is worth asking of any firm you consider. Where a firm does send tax return information offshore, federal law requires your prior written consent in a specific prescribed form, so if you have never signed such a consent and you suspect the work is leaving the country, that is a question worth asking directly.

Do you use AI?

For internal drafting and research, in the way most professional firms now do, not for judgement, and not in any way that puts client data into a public tool. Every deliverable is reviewed by the person whose name is on it. That is how we work, not a marketing position.

How do we start?

Book a scoping call using the form on this page, or call us. We will ask what you need, who is asking you for it, and what condition your records are in, then tell you what the engagement involves and what it will cost before anything begins.

Book a scoping call

Twenty minutes, no charge. Tell us what you need and we will tell you what it involves, what it will take, and whether we are the right fit for it.

  • A short call with the person who would actually do the work.
  • A clear scope and a fixed quote before anything begins.
  • We reply to every enquiry within one business day.

The California compliance calendar

Every filing a Los Angeles business, nonprofit or association owes in a year, in date order, with the statute beside it. One page, so it can go on a wall.

  • Federal, California and Los Angeles County dates in a single sequence
  • Entity by entity, so you only read your own rows
  • The citation for each date, so you can check it yourself
  • Reviewed and dated, and reissued when a date moves

There is no instant download. A person sends it, usually the same working day.
