Legal
Privacy policy
How we handle information about you, in plain terms.
Awaiting legal review
This policy is a working draft prepared as part of the website build. It must be reviewed by the firm's counsel and completed with the correct legal entity details before launch.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you contact us or submit a form, we collect your name, organisation, email address, phone number and whatever you write in the message.
Information from working with you. If you become a client, we hold the financial and business records necessary to perform the engagement, under the terms of our engagement letter.
Information collected automatically. Standard web analytics: pages visited, approximate location, referring site, device type. We do not use advertising trackers.
How we use it
To respond to your enquiry, to deliver services you have engaged us for, to meet our own legal and professional obligations, and to operate and improve the website.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not send marketing you did not ask for.
Tax return information
Tax return information receives specific protection under IRC §7216. We do not use or disclose it for any purpose other than preparing your return and the related services you engaged us for, without your prior written consent in the form the regulations require.
This includes disclosure to anyone outside the United States. Work is performed in Los Angeles.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand which pages are useful. It tells us things like which pages are read and roughly where visitors are in the world. It does not tell us who you are.
Analytics is switched off until you agree to it. We use Google Consent Mode, which means analytics storage is set to *denied* by default: no analytics cookie is written on your first visit. If you decline, it stays denied and the site works exactly the same.
We do not run advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or any third-party marketing trackers. Advertising storage and personalisation are set to denied permanently, not just until you choose.
Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage under wp-consent. To change it, clear your site data for this domain and the banner will appear again.
The site also sets no cookies of its own for ordinary browsing. The only cookie we set is a session cookie in the staff admin area, which visitors never see.
How we protect it
We maintain a written information security plan, use multi-factor authentication on systems holding client data, encrypt documents in transit and at rest, and exchange files through a secure portal rather than email attachments. See our security page.
Your rights under California law
California residents have rights to know what personal information we hold, to request deletion, to request correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
Note that professional and legal record-retention obligations may require us to keep certain records notwithstanding a deletion request. We will tell you where that applies.
To make a request, contact us using the details on our contact page.
Retention, and changes to this policy
We keep client records for the period required by professional standards and law, and no longer than necessary after that.
If we change this policy we will update the date shown on this page.
